It was another dismal performance at Euro 2020 for Tottenham Hotspur hitman Harry Kane on Friday night.
Kane, who won the Premier League’s golden shoe last season, struggled with England’s victory over Croatia last weekend.
And it was more or less the same for the Spurs shooter in last night’s 0-0 draw against Scotland at Wembley.
The 27-year-old cut a frustrated and isolated figure ahead of the Three Lions and Gareth Southgate pulled it out for Marcus Rashford in the 74th minute.
Getting a Kane in shape when you need a goal is a pretty unthinkable scenario if you’re a Tottenham fan, given how deadly the player is at the top.
But that only shows his struggles against the Scots on Friday, even though he had a good chance to open the scoring in the second half but inflated his lines considerably.
And Andros Townsend, his former teammate in north London, admitted he was “shocked” to see his boyfriend miss like this.
He said Stadium astro: “I think what probably shocked me the most is that he had a chance in the second half where he worked it well, he climbed on his left foot and you say to yourself ‘c’ is good, goal! ‘. But he kind of scratched it and Harry Kane doesn’t do that.
It’s no secret that Kane wants a big move away from the Lilywhites this summer, with Manchester City seeking talks to sign him.
We know this because he actually confirmed it in an interview with Gary Neville towards the end of last season in a move that infuriated Tottenham president Daniel Levy about the timing.
But there is something to be said for causing a whirlwind of speculation just a month before a big international tournament.
And honestly, Kane is playing like a man with something else on his mind right now.
