Some Arsenal fans are praising William Saliba’s latest performance.

The 20-year-old defender had by far the biggest test of his fledgling career tonight.

Saliba, on loan from Arsenal to Marseille for the 2021-22 campaign, knew he was arguably up against the best offensive line in the world.

The Gunners’ prospect faced Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar as Paris Saint-Germain visited the Vélodrome tonight.

But the great central defender ended up keeping his clean sheet despite the star quality of his opponents.

And one of the reasons it was a clean sheet is the man himself, who executed a perfectly-timed challenge on Mbappe late to stop the French striker in jetted heels – whom he followed for a race – to kick Mauricio Pochettino’s team in front.

Here’s how some Arsenal fans reacted to his performance:

Mockery

It must be said that Saliba – named in the Ligue 1 team of the week last Tuesday – mocks the judgment of Mikel Arteta.

If he can play a big role in silencing a player like Mbappe, one of the best in the world, then he is Following that’s good enough for Arsenal.

The fact that Saliba joined the North Londoners over two years ago and didn’t make an appearance in competition is really crazy.

But luckily for the Gunners, Marseille, who to do have a compulsory purchase option for Matteo Guendouzi, do not have the option of signing Saliba outright next summer.
