DC Entertainment has partnered with Monster Cereal for a series of exclusive illustrations on each box of Boo Berry, Count Chocula and Franken Berry.
Monster cereal has become a Halloween tradition, arriving in the store just in time for the fall season. This year, DC Entertainment, home of DC Comics, is bringing an original take on those festive party boxes, bringing you the iconic grain monsters in a way you’ve never seen before. Comic artist Jim lee, best known for his work on Batman, Justice League, and Superman, is working on the Boo Berry Box. Artists Terry and Rachel Dodson are responsible for Count Chocula, while illustrator Dave johnson takes Franken Berry. Check the boxes, then read on for more information:
About the design of the Boo Berry box, Jim lee declared:
“Boo Berry all the way! He’s not just a monster. For me, he was the smartest of the trio and often got the better of the other two monsters. I had a very personal connection with Boo Berry in growing up, it was my favorite cereal. “
Taking on the project was a lifelong dream come true, Jim lee Explain:
“It was an honor. Working on something like Monster Cereal, outside of my usual superhero job, is definitely one of the highlights of my (non-superhero) career!”
Said Lauren Pradhan, Marketing Manager for Monsters:
“We wanted to make sure that Count Chocula, Franken Berry, and Boo Berry still looked like the monsters our fans know and love, but with a DC Comics twist. We were extremely lucky that Jim Lee and his team designed custom comics for the backside. of every box, too. “
Count Chocula and Franken Berry first appeared in stores in 1971, with the arrival of Boo Berry in 1973. Available from Target, the original Retro boxes will also be available this year, with Yummy Mummy and Frute Brute also doing a comeback for Halloween. And this year’s boxes will feature cutout masks.
In addition to this very first Monster Cereal partnership with DC Comics and Retro Boxes, the Monsters will also be part of a free digital game app available on family sized boxes of Honey Nut Cheerios, Lucky Charms, Cinnamon Toast Crunch and Cocoa. Puffs exclusively. at Walmart.
Monster Cereal fans can conquer different levels of play and use codes found inside specially marked packages that provide “power up” abilities.
All varieties and special edition boxes of Monster Cereals will be available soon at select U.S. retailers and will be available in stores nationwide by September.
