U.S. intelligence officials have no explanation for nearly all of the cases involving UFOs encountered by military pilots since 2004, according to the findings of a long-awaited mystery objects report.

Of 144 encounters reported with the so-called Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP) from 2004 to 2021, officials said they were only able to identify one with “great confidence,” determining the object was a balloon that deflated. The Pentagon task force said officials “currently lack sufficient information” to categorize the other incidents with certainty.

Officials called on Congress to invest in standardized reporting and analysis of NAPs to help efforts reach a conclusion about their origins. The report also found that the items could pose a threat to flight safety and national security.

“PSUs pose a danger to flight safety and could pose a broader danger if certain cases represent sophisticated collection against US military activities by a foreign government or demonstrate breakthrough aerospace technology by a potential adversary,” the report said.

Compiled by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, the report found no evidence to suggest the sightings were alien spacecraft or evidence of advanced technology possessed by a foreign power such as China or Russia. However, the report does not exclude this possibility either.

The report noted that observers saw “unusual UAP movement patterns or flight characteristics” in 18 of the incidents, including some instances where objects moved “without discernible means of propulsion.”

“For years the men and women we trust to defend our country have reported encounters with unidentified planes with superior capabilities, and for years their concerns have often been ignored and ridiculed,” said Senator Marco Rubio, R-Fla., Deputy Chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee. “This report is an important first step in cataloging these incidents, but it is only a first step.

“The Defense Ministry and the intelligence community have a lot of work to do before we can really understand whether these air threats present a serious national security problem,” he added.

Authorities have identified five categories that may explain the incidents once they are resolved: aerial clutter, natural atmospheric phenomena, classified US technology development efforts, foreign adversary systems, and a catch-all category. “Other”.

Part of the report should remain classified. Earlier this month, senior administration officials told The New York Times that the classified material did not contain any information suggesting the existence of an alien spacecraft. They acknowledged that keeping part of the report hidden could lead to speculation otherwise.

Representative Adam Schiff, D-Calif., Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, said the report showed encounters with NAPs are “not uncommon”.

“We must approach these questions without preconceptions to encourage a thorough and systematized analysis of the potential risks to national security and flight safety posed by unidentified aerial phenomena, whether they are the result of a foreign adversary, of phenomena. atmospheric or otherwise, space debris or whatever, ”Schiff said in a statement.

Asian Americans, veterans and civilians in the United States and the Philippines campaign to name a Navy warship for a Filipino sailor who bravely rescued two crew members when their ship caught fire over a century ago, which earned him a prestigious and rare Medal of Honor.

Supporters say that nominating a ship for Telesforo Trinidad would honor not only the only Asian American in the US Navy who received the country’s highest honor for bravery, but also the tens of thousands of Filipinos and Americans d Filipino descent who have served in the United States Navy since 1901, when the Philippines was a territory of the United States.

“I don’t think this is a long shot at all; it may be a long delay, but we hope it isn’t,” said retired Captain Ron Ravelo and Chairman. in the countryside. “We will be building Navy ships for the foreseeable future, and there is no reason any of them cannot be named Telesforo Trinidad.”

HONG KONG APPLE DAILY PRO-DEMOCRACY PAPER WILL CLOSE

Trinidad, who died in 1968 at the age of 77, was so eager to join the US Navy that he boarded a lifeboat from his home island of Panay to the Main Island to enlist, said his grandson Rene Trinidad. In 1915, while patrolling the USS San Diego, he risked his life and suffered burns to save two teammates when boilers exploded, killing nine people. He received the medal that year, at a time when the honor could be bestowed for non-combatant valor.

René Trinidad, a Southern California real estate agent, remembers his grandfather as a man of few words.

“He let his actions speak for himself,” he said, “and I guess that’s why he did what he did.”

The campaign enjoys grassroots enthusiasm and the support of members of the Democratic Congress who sent a letter last month to Acting Secretary of the Navy Thomas Harker.

Traditionally, different types of ships have different naming conventions, but there are exceptions, said Samuel J. Cox, retired Rear Admiral and director of Naval History and Heritage Command, who suggests names and has previously submitted Trinidad. for exam. The Secretary of the Navy has the final authority and discretion to name and rename ships, he said.

Some commemorate American states, cities, Navy heroes or distinguished Americans. The number of Navy ships receiving names varies widely from year to year, but averages around eight, three or four of which are named after people, Cox said.

“There are just too many heroes for the number of ships to name,” he said.

Norman Polmar, author and naval analyst, agrees.

“And I hate to say that, it hurts me a bit when I say that: it’s getting more and more political – which party you are in and who’s in the White House, and sometimes the White House gets involved,” a said Polmar.

SEN. COTTON RAILS NAVAL OFFICER READING LIST: SAILORS SHOULD FOCUS ON ‘FIGHTING REAL WARS’, NOT CULTURAL WARS

Former Secretary of the US Navy Ray Mabus sparked controversy after appointing warships for former US Representative Gabrielle Giffords; the late gay civil rights leader Harvey Milk of San Francisco; and the late farm worker activist Cesar Chavez. Gifford’s honor shattered more modern traditions that the person must be dead or old.

Critics also said there were plenty of Heroic Service members to choose from. Mabus said his choices were also heroism.

In January 2020, Acting Secretary of the Navy Thomas Modly named a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier in honor of Doris “Dorie” Miller, an African-American sailor who received the Navy Cross for his actions during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor.

The name didn’t suit critics who say Miller deserves to have a ship named after him, but not an elite aircraft carrier named after the presidents. There is also an ongoing debate about the ships appointed for the Civil War Confederacy.

Cecilia Gaerlan, a member of the Trinidad Campaign Board of Directors, said they would like a Navy surface fighter, such as a destroyer or frigate, named after the Firefighter Second Class. The appointment would be a symbol of the Navy’s commitment to “diversity, equality and inclusion in this time of national racial tensions and unwarranted violence against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders,” he said. Democratic U.S. Representative Sara Jacobs of California said in a May letter to Harker signed by 10 others.

NAVY EXPLOSION TEST FOR NEW AIRCRAFT CARRIER REGISTRATIONS AS A MINOR EARTHQUAKE IN FLORIDA

There are other Navy ships named after Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, including the destroyer USS Daniel Inouye. The former US senator was awarded the Medal of Honor in the famous 442nd Infantry Regiment, made up of Americans of Japanese descent whose families were incarcerated in camps during World War II.

There was a US Navy ship named after a Filipino, but Gaerlan says the USS Rizal, a destroyer in service from 1919 to 1931, was donated by the Philippine legislature and honors José Rizal, a hero national who never served in the army.

More than two dozen Americans in Asia and the Pacific have received the Medal of Honor since its inception during the Civil War, mostly in the U.S. military, according to the Congressional Medal of Honor Society. There are approximately 3,500 recipients.

Telesforo Trinidad, born in 1890, enlisted in 1910 in the Island Force established by then President William McKinley and served in both World Wars. More than 250,000 Filipino soldiers served in World War II and thousands died in Bataan’s brutal death march in 1942 in the Philippines.

René Trinidad, 65, said it went against his cultural upbringing to draw attention to his grandfather’s heroism, but his late father wanted recognition from his father, who overcame the hardships, earned a medal and worked hard to support his family. Two sons followed him into the US Navy.

“The bottom line is that Filipinos are recognized for their contribution to the United States, and that every Filipino should be proud of that as well,” he said.

New York Times Defends Maggie Haberman Against Fox News Attack | New York Times https://banzairunnerpantera.com/new-york-times-defends-maggie-haberman-against-fox-news-attack-new-york-times/ https://banzairunnerpantera.com/new-york-times-defends-maggie-haberman-against-fox-news-attack-new-york-times/#respond Tue, 22 Jun 2021 12:10:00 +0000 https://banzairunnerpantera.com/new-york-times-defends-maggie-haberman-against-fox-news-attack-new-york-times/

The New York Times editor-in-chief on Monday defended Maggie Haberman as “one of the best journalists of her generation” after the reporter was criticized by Fox News.

Dean Baquet’s statement was included in a piece on the Fox News website which accused Haberman of being obsessed with Donald Trump and failing to adequately cover Joe Biden.

Monday night prime-time host Sean Hannity – what Fox News has reprimand for campaigning with Trump and denying a report, he wrote a campaign ad for the then president – called Haberman a “stalker” of Trump.

Hannity also stated that Haberman and his colleagues who won a Pulitzer Prize in 2018 for reporting Russian election interference and Trump-Moscow ties should “fix the record, turn in your fake Pulitzer and admit who you are.”

Appropriately for such a storm in a Beltway goldfish bowl, it all started on Twitter.

In response to coverage of an accident at a Florida pride parade on Sunday, Haberman linked to a item and wrote: “This website publishes such garbage [especially] when it comes to media. Politicians are saying something, journalists are covering it. “HORSIBLE,” shout reporters from Fox dot com media. “

Haberman deleted the messages, saying they were “too broad” and that it “should be more specific – some Fox shows aired comments that I made for several days out of context, and some reporters used them in reporting on the website out of context A tweet was also misinterpreted today.

On Monday, Fox News published a room headlined “New York Times scribe Maggie Haberman can’t leave Trump, largely ignores Biden.”

The article cites sources including Dan Gainor of the Media Research Center, a curator thinking group; William A Jacobson, Cornell law professor and conservative “media critic” also founder of legalinsurrection.com; and Chris Barron, a “Conservative strategist” who once wrote an article for the Guardian titled “I Helped Create Politician Donald Trump.” Now I regret it bitterly ”.

Barron said Haberman, also an analyst for CNN, “traded the credibility she had under the Trump administration for 15 minutes of celebrity on cable. With Trump out of office, she is lost.

“Like a heroin addict who has taken everything she has, all that remains is the desire to desperately pursue that elusive high. She should consider a new line of work, one that allows her to break her addiction. unhealthy. “

The Fox News article, however, highlighted how busy Trump and the party he controls have occupied Haberman and other reporters.

Of the more than 100 stories Haberman contributed to during this time, Fox News said, “at least 70” were about Trump or characters in his orbit and “dozens … were about Trump’s second impeachment trial shortly after he left. of its functions “.

Trump is the only president to have been impeached twice, making his second trial, for inciting the deadly attack on Capitol Hill on January 6, a truly historic event.

Trump was acquitted when only a handful of Republican senators voted for his guilt. Republicans have since blocked a commission to investigate the attack.

Haberman also signed a deal for a book on Trump. In announcing it, Penguin Vice President and Editor Scott Moyers predicted an “instant classic, a definitive and compelling tale of Donald Trump, his life and his presidency.”

Many journalists have used Trump as a source: according to AxiosTrump has given at least 22 interviews for 17 pounds since leaving the White House.

Baquet said Haberman “will continue to be one of our leading reporters on major political news for years to come.

“We are proud that she works for The New York Times.”

The duo were selected for their fifth Olympics on Monday, joining Teresa Edwards as the only female basketball player in U.S. history to play five. Edwards won four gold medals and one bronze in his illustrious Olympic career.

“It’s been a great trip when you think about playing for so long,” said Taurasi. “We’re trying to pass it on to the next generation. Focused on what we need to do to get home with the gold. Huge competition like no other because of COVID, the delay of the Olympics. We’re really focused. on the golden victory. “

Others making their Olympic debuts are Skylar Diggins-Smith, Chelsea Gray, Ariel Atkins, Jewell Loyd and Napheesa Collier.

“Happy for the roster we have. There is a great mix of very experienced players and first-time Olympians,” said USA coach Dawn Staley. “You need a good mix, especially if you want to deal with winning a gold medal today and what the future looks like.”

Two former WNBA MVPs who did not make the roster were Elena Delle Donne and Nneka Ogwumike. Delle Donne hasn’t played all season as she is recovering from back surgery. Ogwumike was ruled out with a sprained left knee suffered earlier this month. She was expected to return to the WNBA Olympic break next month.

Both players were part of the world championship team that won gold in 2018 and Ogwmuike has attended nearly every U.S. training camp in recent years. She is the only former WNBA MVP not to be on the Olympic roster.

“It breaks my heart that Nneka is not on this team,” Staley said. “Having to make a decision today, if we had to make a decision in a month, I’m sure she would be healthy. It was one of the things she wanted to do.… She was great. voices in our training camp and practices. Nneka will definitely be missed. “

The Americans have won the last six consecutive gold medals, having lost no games at the Olympics since 1992. They are the big favorites to win again. The Americans are in a group with France, Japan and Nigeria, against which the United States opens on July 27. The Americans will face Japan on July 30 and France on August 2.

The US team will meet in Las Vegas in July to train for a week and play an All-Star Game against selected WNBA players. The Americans will also play matches against Australia and Nigeria.

Representative Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., Renewed the call for reparations on Saturday as the country recognized June 17 as a federal holiday for the first time.

President Biden made June 19, or June 10, a federal holiday on Friday to celebrate the emancipation of black slaves after the Civil War,

“Proud #June is now a federal holiday, “Omar wrote.” As we reflect on the meaning of what this day symbolizes, let us continue to fight to face the lasting consequences of slavery. Next step: repairs. “

Omar is a member of “the squad” – a group of progressive women lawmakers, including Democratic Reps Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, Rashida Tlaib of Michigan, and Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts, who previously sought reparations after George’s murder. Floyd in May 2020.

While the idea of paying reparations to descendants of black slaves in the United States or to those wronged by the criminal justice system is not new, federal and local lawmakers have been scrambling to introduce new legislation focused on reparations in the wake of Floyd’s death as the country faced a cultural calculation.

Evanston, Ill. In March became the first state to approve a plan to offer remedies to black residents for past discrimination and the lingering effects of slavery.

The plan, reportedly the first of its kind in the United States, is to distribute $ 400,000 to eligible black households. The Associated Press reported that eligible households in the city of 73,000 residents would be eligible to receive $ 25,000 for home repairs or down payments on the property.

California launched a task force in June to study reparations for descendants of slaves.

Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, pledged $ 2 million in a reparations-like equity program to help black residents buy homes and get small business grants. Asheville, North Carolina, also committed more than $ 2 million to a similar program in June, according to Axios Charlotte.

Critics argue that repairs may be ineffective in creating meaningful change.

Utah Representative Burgess Owens – a black lawmaker, Republican, and former NFL player – likened the reparations to “redistribution of wealth, or socialism” and argued that the idea “is not the means to right the wrongs of our country ”.

Edmund DeMarche of Fox News contributed to this report.

Novartis announced the Wednesday as the FDA granted the Breakthrough Therapy designation to an investigational therapy that targets advanced castration-resistant prostate cancer. The agency said the decision was based on positive data from a Phase 3 clinical trial evaluating LuPSMA-617.

The breakthrough therapy designation is granted to drugs under evaluation for serious conditions for which early clinical evidence indicates potential for substantial improvement over available therapy.

According to the company, the phase 3 VISION study demonstrated that the drug significantly improved overall survival and radiographic progression-free survival in men with progressive, PSMA-positive mCRPC.

FDA APPROVES NEW PROSTATE CANCER IMAGING TOOL

Castration-resistant prostate cancer is diagnosed when the disease continues to grow even though the amount of testosterone in the body has been reduced to very low levels. Cancer can also be found in other parts of the body. The current treatment goals are to control symptoms and slow progress.

Patients in the study who received Lu-PSMA-617 above the standard of care did better than those who received only the standard of care. The company said the drug is a targeted therapeutic approach that delivers radiation directly to the tumor while limiting damage to surrounding normal tissue.

“Patients with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer have a less than a 1 in 6 chance of surviving 5 years and need new treatment options,” said John Tsai, head of global drug development and director medical report from Novartis, following the study’s promising results in March. “We would like to thank the patients who volunteered to participate in this study as well as the clinical teams at each of the trial sites. We would not be able to fulfill our commitment to reinvent medicine without the partnership of patients and their families.

A senior sheepdog learned sign language for breeding.

Peggy, 9, a border collie from the UK, lost his hearing and was turned over to the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, according to South West News Service.

However, Peggy’s luck improved when she crossed paths with Chloe Shorten, the UK News Agency reports.

Chloe, who is responsible for animal welfare at the RSPCA’s Mid Norfolk and North Suffolk branch in Norwich, England, provided Peggy with a place to stay and access to much-needed training.

According to SWNS, the 28-year-old animal lover and her herding husband Jason, 34, began teaching Peggy hand signals shortly after it “became clear that she wasn’t going anywhere.”

With the help of the couple’s other two sheepdogs (Sid and Nora) and a specialist sheepdog trainer, Chloe and Jason were able to teach Peggy to recognize hand signals and body language for communication. basic and breeding.

“We knew Peggy wanted to work, so we started the long process of teaching her how to keep and work with a Shepherd without relying on voice commands,” Chloe told SWNS. “We used repetitive, positive reinforcement and instead of associating a verbal command with an action, we would use a physical hand gesture… For example, a thumbs up means ‘good girl’.”

THEY ARE THE “CUTEST” BREEDS OF DOGS BASED ON THE THEORY OF MEASURING BEAUTY OF THE “GOLDEN RATIO”

“There are many causes of hearing loss in dogs, but for older dogs the cause is often degenerative changes in the nerves found inside the ear. This is similar to the hearing loss seen in older people. The National Dog Registry explains in a guide to navigating canine hearing loss. “The changes will likely be gradual, so the symptoms will appear slowly and you may not notice it right away.”
