Lee added, “I just want to give Alfie and his family something to look forward to. They are all going through a difficult period and it is difficult, especially for little Alfie who, despite the pain in which he is, continues to live and continues to smile.

“I just feel privileged to be able to do something.

“Life is always a little better if we take care of each other and support each other – if we haven’t learned anything else during the pandemic, we have learned it!”

Alfie, who lives near Lee, was diagnosed with leukemia on October 12 last year – his third birthday.

Mom Kristy Cotty said, “We took him to A&E because he hadn’t been himself for about five days. He was very pale and tired and he was not eating.

“He had blood drawn and was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia within hours. He had a few tough months from December to February, mostly due to infections and the side effects of the chemotherapy he was taking.

“He is due to undergo treatment at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital for three and a half years, ending in December 2023.”

Lee has been an avid fundraiser for the past five years, raising around £ 90,000 for various charities.

He explained, “I did a bit of stand-up four or five years ago when there was a competition with about 30 other comedians, and it gave me a bit of a platform to start doing. charity events.

“It’s great to see everyone coming together for a good cause.

“Alfie’s father Ian and his family are taking a 127km bike ride to Leeds to raise money for Alder Hey but, although the hospital of course deserves it, I wanted to do something for Alfie. and his family.

In the evening, the action will move to the Bleak House pub on Cockburn Street for an evening of bingo, and there will be a raffle with many prizes and sports memorabilia that are already up for auction. This includes triple GGG and Manny ‘Pac-Man’ boxing gloves, and a shirt signed by John Barnes.

“We already have a family pass to Legoland for Alfie and his family when he’s well enough to leave, someone offered to pay them to go on vacation to Cyprus, and we want to do whatever we can. can to make life happier. this little boy.

“His family say it’s a diamond. He deserves good things to look forward to. They all do.

“We want to be able to fund a trip to America and even give Alfie a £ 1,000 voucher to go to the Smyths toy store and pick out all the toys he wants. Disney is the goal, but ultimately it will be Alfie and his family where they want to go.

Brave little Alfie Montgomery

“For me there is the satisfaction of knowing the fun Alfie and her family will have after such a difficult time. This is my motivation and I was overwhelmed by all the support.

“But Dingle is a tight-knit community, and everyone is doing their best. It’s incredible.”
