Noel Gallagher said BBC Sport that Arsenal fans will ‘gag to boo’ their side off the pitch against Brighton today.
In what has been a rather disastrous season, Arsenal face Brighton at home today in front of 10,000 returning fans in the Emirates.
More than likely, the Gunners will end this campaign without any European football and the already frustrated fan base will become even more angry with those running their club if that happens.
And while Mikel Arteta has been successful as number two at Manchester City, Oasis star Gallagher, the same can’t be said for what’s going on in North London.
“If Brighton plays half-time as well as they did against us (Man City) on Tuesday,” said Gallagher. “And score first, they’ll win.
“These Arsenal fans are going to gag to boo this team off the field. I want Brighton to win easily, if only to make AFTV a staple the next day. 0-3. “
The problem Arteta will find is that if Arsenal lose, for example, before the break, fans will communicate their feelings – and not in a positive way.
And while it might seem harsh because it’s the first time they’ve returned in a long time, much of their frustration will stem from what they’ve seen throughout this campaign.
So three points are needed to, at the very least, end on a positive note and with a positive vibe.
