Representative Matt Gaetz, in Florida, married his girlfriend Ginger Luckey in a small private ceremony in Southern California on Saturday.
Gaetz, 39, and Luckey, 26, were married by Sergio Gor, former staff member of Republican Senator Rand Paul, in a ceremony attended by around 40 people on Catalina Island, Vanity reported Fair.

The couple had previously told Vanity Fair that they were planning to tie the knot next August, making Saturday’s wedding a surprise to the public. Gaetz proposed to Luckey on Dec. 30 at former President Donald Trump’s resort town of Mar-a-Lago, according to the magazine. He reportedly cooked the menu for Saturday’s wedding himself, which included BBQ chicken thighs, grilled vegetables and a watermelon salad.
“I love my wife!” Gaetz announced it on Twitter on Saturday, including a photo of the couple.
“#GaetzGetsLuckey”, Luckey tweeted.
The marriage comes as Gaetz is currently under investigation as part of a sex trafficking investigation that has led to the arrest and plea of his former partner, Joel Greenberg. Gaetz, who is accused of having sex with a 17-year-old girl and paying her to cross state borders, has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing.
Last month, amid speculation Luckey and Gaetz split during the investigation, Luckey tweeted, “Never Left. Never Leaving”, featuring a photo of the couple on the beach.

“I’ve always been blown away by his character, which is interesting when people criticize him,” Luckey told Vanity Fair in an interview in New York City late last month. “Well, you don’t know Matt. I know Matt. Matt cooks me dinner every night.”
“The hardest part is hearing from family and friends who have been harassed because of it,” she continued. “Matt took his political career forward. I’m a tough person and knew I signed on for it when I decided to be with him for the rest of my life. But they didn’t do anything.”
