Get the console and the PS5 exclusive for £ 510.
A Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart PS5 pack has emerged at a number of retailers with a UK retail price of £ 509.99.
Without much fanfare, the pack was made available for purchase at Smyths Toys and Very, although the link to that last store page has since been removed. Naturally, as the hunt for PS5 stock is always difficult, it’s because that pack is already sold out.
It is not clear whether this pack should also be released in the rest of Europe, the United States, or elsewhere in the world.
Unlike previous Special Edition PS4 consoles – like those released for The Last of Us Part 2 and Death Stranding – this pack only includes a standard PS5 and a disc copy of Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart. Purchased together in this set, you get a saving of £ 10 off the suggested retail price.
Still, it’s worth noting that this is the first time Sony has officially integrated a copy of a PS5 game with its new console. This is not the case with the other big console exclusives such as Dark Souls, Spider-Man: Miles Morales or Returnal. The extra time since launch to prepare for this, and the fact that Ratchet and Clank has fairly broad universal appeal, are our best guesses as to why Sony took this approach.
All previous PS5 packs have been put together by the retailers themselves. This was mostly a deterrent to scalpers from buying all the stock, but also getting some extra cash from the console in demand. Some of them have been reasonable – some less so, as cheap accessories, random t-shirts, and ungainly baseball caps unnecessarily inflated orders.
While this new pack is not available at this time, we have added it to our list as part of our regular quest to monitor all the latest PS5 console availability. Some consoles are expected to go on sale at various retailers in the coming days, including Amazon, Thu, Argos and Smyths Toys.
And, while we don’t expect there to be a discount as part of this year’s Amazon Prime Day PS5 deals, we’ll be paying close attention during the sales event because it’s a great opportunity to release more consoles.
