Some Arsenal fans are flabbergasted by the stats against the top six rivals

The words ‘Arsenal’ and ‘clean sheets’ are something that sounds like they shouldn’t go together. But a recent statistic has shed light on the Gunners’ defensive strength in recent months.

A feature from Athletic shows Arsenal have the cleanest linens on all sides of the Premier League in the last 20 games across all competitions.

With 18 goals conceded during this period, including nine in the first three games of this season, Arsenal are surprisingly one of the best defensive clubs in England’s top flight.

Indeed, Mikel Arteta’s team were tight at the back at the end of last season. And following the arrivals of Aaron Ramsdale, Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu this summer, Arsenal have developed a solid base at the back.

Indeed, since the 5-0 defeat against Manchester City at the start of the season, Arsenal have kept their clean sheet in five of their eight games since that stinging loss in August.

Arteta and Arsenal have really turned a corner, and compared to the number of pure purees their top six rivals have kept in the last 20 games, the Gunners are doing well at the back.

Indeed, the statistic was a shock for Arsenal fans as well as for neutrals on social networks. With fans stunned that the Gunners have had a 50% clean sheet ratio in their last 20 games.
