Urgent warning as Tesco recalls popular baby food that may contain pieces of plastic

Tesco has issued an urgent product recall for its Cottage Pie baby food.

The supermarket warns that it may contain small traces of blue plastic and is therefore unfit for consumption and must be returned to stores.

All 190g packs with an expiration date of June 12, 2022 must be returned to stores by all customers who have purchased one, where a full refund will be issued.

It comes as other supermarkets and stores are also issuing recall warnings, including toy store Aldi, Morrisons and Smyths.

The following notice was issued by the Food Standards Agency.

Description of the risk
Hansan antibacterial hand sanitizers containing alcohol propan-2-ol as the active ingredient have been identified as not containing sufficient concentrations considered effective to disinfect. The product contains an insufficient amount of isopropyl (measured values: 17.3% -56.1% v / v) which is lower than the minimum recommended by the WHO and presents a serious risk to health, because bacteria or viruses are not killed and can subsequently infect the user. In addition, the presence of alcohol is not accompanied by the appropriate pictograms and hazard warnings. The product therefore does not meet the requirements of Regulation 2013 on biocidal and chemical products (Appointment of authorities and enforcement) or of European Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008. on the classification, labeling and packaging of substances and mixtures as amended and retained in GB.

Corrective actions
The authority requires the product to be recalled from end users.
